Additional Comments

For the first time in the last year or so I've been trying to get UDK to work and install and everything else, and it finally does. The next steps up to Step 4 can also be used for installing UDK. How I got UDK Binary to work: 1. Create a new WINEPREFIX: export WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-UDK (or whatever you want to call it) winecfg This will create the prefix you'll need so you don't mess up your old WINEPREFIX and makes it easier to start over. 2. Download the latest SVN Winetricks version from here: (Make sure you have an Svn client and follow directions on site) 3. Grab this file and save it in ~/.cache/winetricks/dotnet40 folder: 4. Go to whatever directory you saved winetricks in's src folder and type this in a new terminal window if one's not opened: ./winetricks -q xact_2010 d3dx11_43 vcrun2008 vcrun2010 dotnet40 5. It should download the June 2010 Directx Redistributable and install all of the Xaudio files needed, but not the Xapofx1_5 file. That must be done manually. 6. Install cabextract from your package manager or obtain it from this site: 7. Create a directory where you will want to store your extracted Directx files in the next step. 8. Change to this directory: cd /path/to/directory for Directx 9. cabextract ~/.cache/winetricks/directx9/directx_Jun2010_redist.exe 10. Then you must run cabextract on like so: cabextract 11. Copy XAPOFX1_5.dll like so: cp -v XAPOFX1_5.dll $WINEPREFIX/path/to/UDK/Binaries/Win32/ You're done. Should solve that problem. Maybe Dan Kiegel should add this to winetricks Xact_2010 stuff. Happy Fragging with UDK. :)

HowTo / Notes

.NET framework 3.5

it doesn't install because it needs .NET framework 3.5.

if we don't get that working, this won't work either.
