SQL Server 2012 is available in 32bit and 64bit.
Limits are still the same : 1 cpu, 1 GB of ram, no sql agent. That probably has not changed since version "2000 MSDE".
The SqlLocalDB.MSI installer can be started with Wine.
What does not
The SqlLocalDB.MSI gets stuck, during the installation process, on Wine bug: 42792.
Whether I click Abort, Retry or Ignore, in the error dialog; the MSI installer still says that the setup was interrupted, and your computer has not been modified.
Error message 29559, setup interrupted, LocalDB not installed.
What was not tested
Since the LocalDB could not be installed, its ability to run could not be tested.
It's a dependency for another application. So I cannot just go and replace it with another database software.
