What works

Installing the game

This is done through Steam and works perfectly.
Rating: Platinum (Works out of the box.)

Running the game

Due to an error with MPEG cutscenes, the game does not start immediately so you have to "skip" the playing videos by pressing return or the left-mouse button. Alternatively as a work around you  can delete the movie files from the game.
Rating: Gold (Works out of the box, with a small issue with workaround)

Playing the game

Everything just works out of the box with no overrides required.

What was tested:

  • Using the menu
  • Changing the screen resolution and some other options
  • Changing the game controls
  • Saving/Loading the game
  • Driving a car
    • Getting in and out
    • Using the horn
    • Using the siren (Input was very sensitive, you need to tap Shift very quickly)
    • Driving
    • Listening to the radio
  • Using weapons
    • The targeting reticule was a bit too low for me, but I'm not sure if this is just an issue with resolution that would have existed in the regular game.
  • Doing missions
    • Completed several with no issue.
  • Getting "wasted" and "busted".

What does not

Only thing identified not working was the MPEG cutscenes.

Workarounds

What was not tested

Stuck keys

2014-11-08 Admin note: the following was extracted from a user comment made on 2013-11-01 and may or may not be relevant to current Wine:

Apparently if you install "dinput" and/or "dinput8" (fairly certain it's dinput8 though), that will fix the issue where you get "ghost" input that makes you constantly turn and run forward (at least that's what it was for me).
