* 20 hours of the single player game, mostly (see note about Grissom Academy). * Importing an ME2 character (from a Steam install of ME2 no less!) * From Ashes DLC * N7 Equipment
What does not
Nothing that was tested failed to work that can be attributed to Wine. I have noted several things that do not work so well under "Extra Comments", but are acknowledged or suspected to exist on Windows.
What was not tested
* Multiplayer -- I just haven't gotten there yet.
I used NO OVERRIDES whatsoever. Please note any difficulties with Origin, of which there are many, on its own AppDB listing: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=13176 I experienced the following difficulties, which I cannot attribute to wine itself: * ME3 was unable to reconstruct the face of my character that was imported from Mass Effect 2, which had been imported from Mass Effect. Bioware has acknowledged this bug affects all users of the game; please do not report this. * Alliance Network / Galaxy at War seems to have connection problems. I assume this is because of peak post-release activity, and not a wine bug, but I will watch this during further testing. * At some points of the game, lip-syncing and eye position seem to not work properly; this is most notable right at the beginning of the game when Shepard, Vega, and Anderson talk on the way to see the Defense Committee. This has been reported as a problem on Windows. * During the mission "Grissom Academy: Emergency Evacuation", after reaching Orion Hall, my squad always dies by falling out of the map. There appears to be no way to avoid this in the game (I'd be more specific, but spoilers ahoy). I have seen this kind of bug happen before with other Unreal engine games, and there was a similar issue in the demo that existed natively. I speculate that this has something to do with the way ME3 loads parts of the map. For now I'm going to assume that this is a game bug and not a wine bug.

If you have experienced performance degradation please deactivate dynamic shadows and antialiasing from game graphic menu. Also set proprietary driver image settings to Maximum Performance. This helps for weak graphic cards like NVIDIA Geforce 120 GT.
Please note - If your mouse/keyboard isn't working then it's most likely a rawinput issue, please upgrade your wine to at least version 1.6 since wine has had rawinput built into it for about 12 minor releases now.
If you have mouse and in-game lags, set dinput to native in winecfg - Libraries tab
In some cases sound disappeared, it can be fixed by setting dsound to native as above.
If you have poor performance in multiplayer, set winhttp to native as above.
Do not start game directly from Origin Client! It crashed anytime if you do it.
1. Firstly run Origin, login into it
2. Then run Mass Effect 3 from shortcut on the desktop (or executable file)
3. Start Multiplayer and Enjoy!
