Additional Comments

Only rated "gold" because I tested this in my "default" WINEPREFIX that has pretty much everything installed from winetricks. Upon initial start and changing video resolution the game left my display at 800x600, and I had to set it back to its native 2048x1152 via `xrandr -s 2048x1152`. Upon initial start via Steam it sat there for about 10 minutes "decompressing sounds".

shimmering dome in the starting area

Did you come further then the issue that breaks the game at this point is that when the person appears behind you after walking out of the shimmering dome in the starting area? She does not animate in any way, and does not make any sounds. The camera view, however, still moves as if to follow her. I have tried to progress to further areas of the game, but it seems that maybe something needs to be done by the person, but can not be done because of the lack of movement.

Try 'winetricks directmusic'
