What works
Almost all, see below.
What does not
If the registry is used to disable the 16 bit graphic (prefsVidDeep = 0), the fullscreen option (registry) must be enable also (prefsFullScreen = 1). But even at full screen mode, the game only lasts a few clicks, before the display gets corrupted.
I played the game successfully by using Xypher to put the fullscreen game in a window. So in summary:
- set prefsVidDeep=0
- set prefsFullScreen=1
- cd c:\chaos; Xephyr :1 -ac & DISPLAY=:1 wine Chaos\ Overlords.exe
The display still gets corrupt sometimes and the whole screen become grey, after clicking on the "OK" buttons in the game randomly. To live with this, after the corruption, press Ctrl-S to save the game, Ctrl-R to end the game, the game goes back to the main screen with the screen corruption fixed. Load your game and continue.
