Additional Comments

This is what it looks like: It gets close, but not close enough for me to actually do anything. After this, after pressing OK, it just ends. I can't press anything around it and the following is installed: * d3dx9 * d3dx9_43 * dotnet35sp1 (also: dotnet20, dotnet30sp1, dotnet35) * msxml3 * vcrun2008 All these should be the required runtime libraries but aparently something's missing.

HowTo / Notes

Quick howto

For now Firefall does not work in Wine without some workarounds. Here's how to get it running:

1. Patch the Wine source with the patch from

2. Run winetricks d3dcompiler_43 d3dx9_43 vcrun2008 crypt32

3. Copy rsaenh.dll from a Windows XP (Windows 7 did not work for me) installs system32 directory to [Wine prefix]/drive_c/windows/system32 and then run winecfg and add rsaenh to native dll overrides.

4. Go to the directory [Firefall directory]/system/bin/ and run FirefallClient.exe

These instructions used to work, but has not worked for a while now. FirefallClient.exe now crashes instantly except sometimes it seems to get a little further, but still crash before any window is shown.

I think it's related to something not working correctly with their crash manager (DumpTruck.exe) but I don't know for sure.
