Nightingale is a community based fork of the Songbird Media player
distributed under the GNU GPL and portions (XULRunner and Mozilla libs)
licensed under the Mozilla MPL/BSD license.

The goal of Nightingale is to create a Media Player, which will
eventually use only system libraries to conserve space. Currently, some
libraries are still bundled, but progress is being made to change this

This git tree is based on the Songbird 1.11 tree, rebranded and enhanced
for Nightingale. It's a reflection of what our Xul 6+ releases will be like.

What works

It is capable of playing music. I imported just one album and was able to play "Big in Japan".

What does not

I restarted nightingale.exe after it crashed and toggled my watch folder. It prompted to add from that "new" watch folder. I accepted and it failed during import again with the same error. I restarted nightingale.exe - again - and tried to import from File->Import media... it crashed with the same error.

This ultimate time, it did add some tracks which I found upon restart. I tried to play a few of those tracks, but I would get errors.

What was not tested

I was not able to add my collection of music.

After I got one song to play, I quit testing because nothing could really push the rating upward. I have confirmed that it is possible to play music from Nightingale 1.11 and that Bug 23570 does not effect Nightingale.

Additional Comments

I will re-test Nightingale when a new version of Nightingale is released. This tertiary test was to confirm that advancements in Wine probably won't help Nightingale on Wine very much. I have hopes that the next version of Nightingale will help stabilize it on Wine. During one of my crashes, an error about TagLib occured. The next version of Nightingale will likely have support for Vanilla TagLib.
