Installer works partially if .net 4.0 is installed.
What does not
Github for Windows requires .Net 4.0. It also uses the .Net ClickOnce technology for deployment and installation. Even if .net 4.0 is installed using winetricks, the Github for Windows installer gives the following error -
"Unable to install or run this application. This application requires Version 4.0 Full or other compatible .NET Framework."
What was not tested
The application couldn't be installed and thus was not tested.
The error by the installer (mentioned above) is reported as a known bug - http://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/691093/net-4-0-clickonce-applications-breaks-after-installing-net-4-5-developer-preview and so perhaps some hack could be applied as a workaround to install this. However, this is most probably a larger issue with .net 4.0 on wine and may resolve itself when .net 4.0 becomes more compatible with wine.
