The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead is an episodic interactive drama graphic adventure video game developed and published by Telltale Games

The game takes place in the same fictional world as the comic, with events occurring shortly after the onset of the zombie apocalypse in Georgia. However, most of the characters are original to the game, which centers on university professor and convicted murderer Lee Everett, who helps to rescue and subsequently care for a young girl named Clementine. Kirkman provided oversight for the game's story to ensure it corresponded to the tone of the comic, but allowed Telltale to handle the bulk of the developmental work and story specifics. Some characters from the original comic book series also make in-game appearances.

Additional Comments

Installed in my "default" Steam wineprefix, which has plenty of stuff installed via winetricks (d3dx*, xinput, xact, dotnet*, vcrun*). I don't know which parts are necessary and which ain't. winecfg is set to "emulate virtual desktop", "2048x1152" (my native resolution), "capture mouse", "XP", no DLL overrides. I had to install libldap-2.4-2:i386 (note the :i386 !), as it complained about not being able to load something like WLDAP32 in the console. Otherwise it wouldn't even start. Spams "fixme:d3d:gl_blend_op Unhandled blend op 0." to the console, in a tight loop. Also it's .. laggy; every couple seconds it just pauses for a couple (5-30) seconds. Rated "bronze" for this, as this affects usability badly. Playable, though, if one's patient with the lags. No problems with "connecting" like some other folks have. Box: AMD FX-8350 4GHz, 16GB RAM, GeForce GTX550 Ti 1GB
