Additional Comments

Running the game when your desktop is set to a different resolution than the game's (example: the default setting for Myst V is 800 x 600; if your desktop is set to a different resolution, the game will not be visible unless you are using the "Emulate a Virtual Desktop" option in Wine). This can be worked around by setting your desktop to the same resolution that is set in-game (example: before initially running the game, set your desktop to 800 x 600, as this is the default for the game; then set the resolution in-game to whatever you like and set your desktop to that resolution before running the game) or, as stated, using the virtual desktop option in Wine. The issue that breaks the game at this point is that when the person appears behind you after walking out of the shimmering dome in the starting area, she does not animate in any way, and does not make any sounds. The camera view, however, still moves as if to follow her. I have tried to progress to further areas of the game, but it seems that maybe something needs to be done by the person, but can not be done because of the lack of movement.
