Check for updates, pre-fill, review pre-filled data, roll over from previous year, etc all work.
What does not
Help does not work directly from ETax, but you can use Firefox (running natively) to access the help system by navigating to file:///home/[username]/.wine/drive_c/Program Files[ (32)]/etax2012/help/client_nav.html ~ whether there is a " (32)" in the path or not depends on how recently your .wine/ was created.
What was not tested
Haven't completed all questions or done final lodgement yet.
Using winetricks to install msxml4 and ie7 makes it possible to connect to the ATO site. Without them, you will get an error when trying to connect. Winetricks command: $ winetricks msxml4 ie7 Download etax2012_1.msi from http://www.ato.gov.au/individuals/content.aspx?doc=/content/32234.htm&page=5 install command: $ wine msiexec /i etax2012_1.msi If ETax locks up and has to be killed and there is an error like "wine client error:[xx]: pipe: Too many open files", check `ulimit -Hn`. If the result is 1024, you need to increase the open file hard limit on your system. How to do this is distro dependent.
