The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

What works

The game itself and everything in it.

Dialogues, cut-scenes, looting, inventories, combat and so on.

All the menus and settings.

What does not

In the game itself evesything seems to work out of the box.

After using the "Morrowind Code Patch", graphics menu inside the game makes it crash. Changing graphics in launcher still works.

Switching desktops while in fullscreen mode makes game stuck in black screen.

What was not tested

I did not go very far in the game, so there might potentially be problems.

Everything in first 10 minutes works flawlessly.

Additional Comments

I tried the Steam version in freshly installed wine and it just worked. Wine is in 32 bit chroot inside a 64 bit host OS.

The game might crash at launch before loading the main menu. This is due to the lack of proper gstreamer codecs, it can be fixed by installing:

  gstreamer1-plugins-ugly.i686

It has to be i686 (32 bit) not x86_64!

The engine does not support newer resolutions, which leads to a windowed game.

To force fullscreen on the game go to Settings -> Keyboard -> Toggle Fullscreen and bind it to a key, now you can use that key to make the game fullscreen.
