Works for all normal uses, both free and paid-to-license. Tests (after a couple winetricks fixes listed below), included: files (creating, importing, exporting, upgrading), entering/editing/deleting data and citations, image gallery with rudimentary editing, reports and charts, mapping, Internet searching, website creation, new timeline view, new research manager, new database tools for testing/repairing.
What does not
Scrolling annoyances, but not full breakage: Full names appear as tooltips when the column width truncates them, and this freezes mouse-wheel scrolling; but moving the mouse away to hide the tooltip resumes the ability to wheel-scroll. Some scrollbars do not navigate the entire distance of long lists (mouse-wheeling and Home/PgUp/PgDn/End all work). These same issues occurred in 4.* versions.
Freeze after export of website from large database.
What was not tested
Direct printing (I print to PDFs via CUPS), CD creation, LDS-specific portions (not a member), "To-Go" flash-drive portable version
New in version 5: Requires GDI+ ("gdiplus" via winetricks) or it crashes at start. Had an issue with freezing while editing citations; the citation live preview was likely the culprit. While 4.* versions also had a live preview and worked without these tweaks, this was resolved via winetricks by adding "comctl32" (MS Common Controls), "ie8" (for WebSearch tab but hadn't retested the live-preview glitch without it), and "mono210" (Mono 2.10 .NET), though the live preview still flickers. There may be other DLLs to add to fix the aesthetic-only flicker or the website-export freeze mentioned above.
