Selected Test Results

What works

  • Launching the editor
  • Opening certain maps (Arena_01.wot)
  • Moving inside the viewports
  • Changing the category viewed in the browser
  • Editing geometry
  • Editing actor and texture properties
  • Rebuilding levels
  • Level validation

What does not

  • Opening certain maps (Mission_01.wot, it crashes)
  • Viewports are treated by the editor as fixed, but appear floating
  • The browser pane doesn't respond to clicks in most cases, like the Actor Class Browser, Music Browser, group selection in the Texture Browser etc.
  • Viewing textures full-size, it crashes
  • The windows are treated as always-on-top, so dialogs such as Open appear behind the main windows; they have to be minimised to be seen.
  • Maximising a floating viewport causes the screen to go in and out of a very small resolution.

What was not tested

  • Extra tools (Floor Lofter, 2D Shape Editor, etc.)
  • Different rebuilding options
  • Special mapping techniques
  • Using for a long time

Hardware tested

  • GPU:
  • Driver:

Additional Comments

Tested the version that comes with The Wheel of Time. Setting it up, especially on a hybrid 64-bit Wine installation, is tricky. You need to apply the UnrealEd fix, install the old VisualBasic Runtime (and it installs things into windows/system32 instead of windows/syswow64), and add several other OCX files (like the infamous THREED.OCX) to make it run. More details for setting it up are on the website. Tested using an AMD Radeon HD4890 card with fglrx drivers.
