What works

I was able to do everything that Icould in windows with it. Even ran a little faster than it did in windows xp.

Multi-core rendering. Adding bunch of add-ons. Voice chat. Loading off of an NTFS file system isn't super slow anymore.

No more prop kill crash!

Was able to run with vsync on, without the mouse delay. It felt like vsync was off but it wasn't. Very cool.

What does not

Had a bug, but I believe it is game specific, (happened in windows too.) If I hit escape and then click return to game, it will ignore a lot of my keys and mess with my hud a little, forcing me to kill it. Was able to work around this by simply hitting escape to return to game.

What was not tested

Hosting a game.

Additional Comments

Over all it performs really well. As good or better than windows xp. (No kidding around either.) I was playing on space build servers with a lot of shooting and explosions going off and it handled it just fine. No loading lag (except when 25+fusions go off). No crashes. Had to set dwrite to disable. Have to use appropriate driver for your card since valve has been working with gpu manufacturers. Certain drivers don't support a specific opengl call for nvidia and the game will crash every time if you have the wrong driver. It did crash a few times but its way less prone to crashing compared to what gmod use to be in wine. Not sure how it compares to windows on stability but 6 hours of messing around it crashed twice while I was standing around afk in single player. I wasn't able to determine the cause. Disabling focus stealing in kde makes it a little less derpy when running window mode. Sometimes it ignores your inputs even though the window is active.

After latest wine update killing NPCs no longer crashes game.

by Yuri Shishenko on Saturday December 1st 2012, 4:30
This game like others on Source 2011 (CS:GO, Portal 2, Dota 2) works very slow on Intel HD greaphics. This game shows ~10 FPS with minimal graphics settings.
just stops
by Austin P on Monday November 19th 2012, 0:50
When I start Gmod from Steam, It just hangs on the first loading screen where it says "Loading..." I've tried all sorts of stuff, redownloading off a Windows computer, disabling Steam In-game community thing and nothing works. I can't get a terminal output or one of the mdmp files to open up either. Can someone help me?

And it can load maps?

by Yuri Shishenko on Sunday August 12th 2012, 14:53
After latest game update Awesomium.DLL problem is gone, but appears new - 'can not load client library'. Im testing and Googling now.

Any outcome on this?
by Burrito Bazooka on Sunday August 26th 2012, 16:56
By the way, Garry opened up the beta to everyone. So the installation instructions have changed.

He's also said the release date may slip to October 24th. I'm assuming it can go even later than that, since his coding team consists of only himself.

In the realise version "Awesomium.dll" problem disappeared. But the game don't want to load any map.

Confirmed. But cannot test it because currently Im using Intel HD graphics. Wined games workcs much worse than on nVidia cards.
