Updated PC game to work on modern environments, plus various bugs and errors fixed. Featuring HQ sounds instead of MIDI. This is _not_ the upcoming Remake.
This version is available from Square Enix online shop only and also includes a key for registration in steam now. (see steam version, if you're testing this instead)

What works
After setup is done (game files must be downloaded first), the game is started using FF7Launcher, which is processing the activation and updating game files - fully working.
Settings, Achievements, Saving/Loading and playing works; tested until Fort Condor.
What does not
Downloading the setup files of the game using the Square Enix download tool called 'Direct DLM', available from the online store / account management page, did not work for me, as the loader was unable to start up.
There is no other way to receive the setup (files), so the installation is impossible.
It's still possible to run the setup, once it was downloaded - this is working.
Workarounds
What was not tested
A full playthrough wasn't made.

Install with: wine tm20decSetup.exe
The original setup-files loader, provided by Square Enix may not work for you.
In order to obtain the needed setup, you may try to execute the loader on another system or inside a virtual machine.
Simply copying a fully installed game dir may work as well.
In order to run setup.exe, you most like will need mfc42.dll .
This can be done with winetricks, by running:
winetricks mfc42

Open driconf and select 'yes' next to: Enable S3TC texture compression even if software support is not available
This worked with my radeon open source drivers.
