Updated PC game to work on modern environments, plus various bugs and errors fixed. Featuring HQ sounds instead of MIDI. This is _not_ the upcoming Remake.
This version is available from Square Enix online shop only and also includes a key for registration in steam now. (see steam version, if you're testing this instead)
Everything seems to work fine.
What does not
What was not tested
The game works fine in a new wineprefix with additional dll overrides: 'winetricks d3dx9 mfc42' I had several problems while testing multiple configurations, such as no music when i installed 'dsound' with winetricks or problems with starting the game with any of the vcrun packages. Only d3dx9 and mfc42 is needed to properly start the application.

The original setup-files loader, provided by Square Enix may not work for you.
In order to obtain the needed setup, you may try to execute the loader on another system or inside a virtual machine.
Simply copying a fully installed game dir may work as well.
In order to run setup.exe, you most like will need mfc42.dll .
This can be done with winetricks, by running:
