WineHQ

Final Fantasy VII

Updated PC game to work on modern environments, plus various bugs and errors fixed. Featuring HQ sounds instead of MIDI. This is _not_ the upcoming Remake.

HowTo / Notes

Video playback via installing the TrueMotion 2.0 Codec
Game Installation - getting the setup

The original setup-files loader, provided by Square Enix may not work for you.

In order to obtain the needed setup, you may try to execute the loader on another system or inside a virtual machine.

Simply copying a fully installed game dir may work as well.

Game Installation - Running setup

In order to run setup.exe, you most like will need mfc42.dll .

This can be done with winetricks, by running:

winetricks mfc42

Install driconf
Open driconf and select 'yes' next to: Enable S3TC texture compression even if software support is not available

This worked with my radeon open source drivers.
