Updated PC game to work on modern environments, plus various bugs and errors fixed. Featuring HQ sounds instead of MIDI. This is _not_ the upcoming Remake.
This version is available from Square Enix online shop only and also includes a key for registration in steam now. (see steam version, if you're testing this instead)

Playing through the whole game.
I'm using the patched version with no online account.
On Arch Linux x86_64 I had to install multilib/lib32-alsa-lib in order to go past the launcher. I am using the open source radeon drivers for an AMD r700 graphic card. I did (using the crack made by vovan31337) : $ WINEARCH=win32 winetricks d3dx9 mfc42 $ WINEARCH=win32 wine setup.exe $ WINEARCH=win32 wine ff7_launcher.exe Pressed "Play".

The original setup-files loader, provided by Square Enix may not work for you.
In order to obtain the needed setup, you may try to execute the loader on another system or inside a virtual machine.
Simply copying a fully installed game dir may work as well.
In order to run setup.exe, you most like will need mfc42.dll .
This can be done with winetricks, by running:
