The same issue with Windows 10: launcher.exe cannot find alone4.exe. The only thing missing from launcher.exe is the video resolution. Steam forum shows there is a way to run alone4.exe with resolution other than the default 640x480, for example:
wine alone4.exe STENCIL x=1920 y=1200
