The Amazon Downloader which is used to download the KindleForPC Installer requires specific components to work. Those components must be installed prior to trying to download KindleForPC. The details for this are detailed here.
Unfortunately there does not seem to be a way to download this without the Downloader at this time.

This Kindle for PC application works very well on Linux. This was specifically tested on the wine 32Bit binaries.
