Additional Comments

rig: AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE @3,4 ghz, 8 GB 1333mhz ram, Nvidia GTX 560 Ti 1GB, kernel 3.5.3 , nvidia driver ver 304.43 , ext4 filesystem, MATE desktop environment. game settings: 1920x1080, all high, physX option is locked to low (can't change) if the launcher doesnt want to work because of failed .NET4.0 installation try the following: "Create a .txt file in notepad and write the numbers '49520' without the ' '. Save it as 'steam_appid.txt' and save it in your Steam directory 'Steam\steamapps\common\Borderlands 2\Binaries\Win32' and run Borderlands2.exe" vcrun 2008/2010 is needed as well as directx (all should be provided by the game installer) framerate seem to be smooth with rare drops in the places where huge area is rendered.

HowTo / Notes

How to start the game without the launcher

The borderlands lancher is not working with wine. But to run the game, it is this application that steam starts first. To work around the problem, do the following:

Create a file named steam_appid.txt with the contents "49520" (without quotes).

Put this files into the Steam/steamapps/common/Borderlands 2/Binaries/Win32 folder

Then, every time you runs the game, first runs steam, and only when steam is running, start the game by running Borderlands2.exe (in the Steam/steamapps/common/Borderlands 2/Binaries/Win32 folder)
