Tested on clean 32bit wineprefix Installed msmxl3 and dotnet40 through winetricks. Game launcher in Steam needs -NoLauncher set in launch options. Still get a "Launcher.exe has crashed" message but then the game boots fine. Runs well on my rig as long as AF, DOF, Physx and AO are off. The borderlands lancher is not working with wine. But to run the game, it is this application that steam starts first. To work around the problem, do the following:
Create a file named steam_appid.txt with the contents "49520" (without quotes).
Put this files into the Steam/steamapps/common/Borderlands 2/Binaries/Win32 folder
Then, every time you runs the game, first runs steam, and only when steam is running, start the game by running Borderlands2.exe (in the Steam/steamapps/common/Borderlands 2/Binaries/Win32 folder)
