What works

  • It installs and you can use the images supplied with the desktop application
  • On launch of the Desktop an icon is places in the system tray for reopening the desktop application after closing it
  • You can also log into the system with the Desktop application and validate your right to use the service itself

What does not

  • No menu launcher is created
  • You cannot change the desktop wallpaper (no interface with the Linux desktop)
  • You can't use the Smile Desktop as a screensaver slide show (also no interface with Linux)
  • New daily images are not downloaded when you are signed into the service
  • You can download images from the service's website and you can open the images by double clicking on them (assuming the .wb2 are associated with the Smile Desktop as teh primary application and not LibreOffice
  • There is no way to quit the application, you have to close it via your task manager

Additional Comments

My system in Linux Mint Debian Edition KDE with Update Pack 5. I needed to install mfc42, as well as QtSvg4.dll and QtXml4.dll, which I had to obtain myself, for the program to run from the terminal without errors. With the libraries installed I get this output when launching it from a terminal and trying to install a .wb2 file by double-clicking on it, up to when I used my task manager to close the app.
