Launcher / Game
What does not
Launcher runs best when used with a manual launch script (runs Java native) instead of the shortcut which wants Java installed within Wine.
Create a manual launch script. Latest instructions are available on support site.
What was not tested
A full set of instruction to install (including Wine, Java, and Winetricks) are available on the support site.

Ubuntu 11.10 and higher steps:
Wine will require some DirectX components.
Your setup is complete. At this point, you can optionally install Java in Wine (see wineTricks) or make sure that your system is up to date with Java (native to Linux) and update your shortcut to call the Java launcher directly (see Creating a Launcher Script below). If you decide to install Java within Wine, your gameplay shortcut should be jlauncher.exe This executible is a wrapper for calling Java to run launcher2.jar
Creating a Launcher Script
You may want to setup a desktop script to run the Java launcher directly, instead of having to install Java within Wine. This is the recommended method of running Istaria, but has a small manual step to implement. Create a file on your desktop called istaria.sh - then open the file using a text editor (gedit or vim).
Add the following lines:
cd "/home//.wine/drive_c/Program Files/istaria"
java -jar launcher2.jar
- Gentoo and Tarball Users: Run "wineprefixcreate" as your default user at this stage if you've never done so before. This will create your DirectInput fixups. Ubuntu and Apt-based users need not do this.
Credit to Ranqthas for the original install procedure.
- The game tells me my keyboard and mouse could not be detected and crashes.
Please run wineprefixcreate. If that fails, check your wine version.
- The game randomly crashes after running out of RAM. What's up with that?
Try setting your texture quality a bit lower. This can be found in Options > Video
