Playing the game
What does not
Making a link (shortcut in gnome) to game. Must always be launched by double clicking MechwarriorOnline.exe in file manager.
Turning up graphics. Results in very poor frame rates and crashes.
Playing more than one round. Launcher is 1/2 size while its window remains its original size. Must close using wineserver -k or possible mouse unresponsiveness may result.
What was not tested
Using links in game launcher
Had to install by using windows and copying directory to wine folder. Installed game using World of tanks winetricks dependencies (d3dx9_36 vcrun2008 corefonts msxml3 wininet ie7 vcrun2010) Currently using custom user.cfg for ultra low settings. Link: http://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/65683-looking-for-an-old-post-about-low-end-usercfg-tweaking-for-low-end-computers/ In windows I could play this game with max settings with 60fps. In Ubuntu i play with custom, absolute bare minimum settings with maybe 25-35fps. Setting graphics up even one notch in the settings will impact performance in a very bad way and will lead to Cryengine crashes.
