Additional Comments

http://linuxgamecast...ith-winetricks/ Followed the link above and installed the necessary libraries with winetricks but was still unable to launch. Would get a tiny window in the upper left corner that appeared to have the main menu, but it was less than a quarter of an inch wide so it was hard to tell. Running in console it was complaining about not having XAPOFX1_5.dll. I found a random site to download the DLL from and placed it in /.wine/drive_c/windows/system/. Then ran winecfg, went to Libraries and typed in XAPOFX1_5.dlland clicked add. After that, the game loaded correctly. It will not actually take priority on the screen when run, however. and I had to use Super+Tab to cycle through to Wine on my system bar for it to take priority.

HowTo / Notes

INSTALLING AND RUNNING

>>> RUNNING
If you have problems with sound — you're using pulseaudio, aren't you? To fix sound lags restart pulseaudion server (`pulseaudio -k` in terminal). Lags in game can be created by sound problems.
If you have problems while retrieving manifest, just close and open launcher while "Launch" button will be active.

Sometimes (not too often) game client dies, but reason is overloading GPU/CPU, I think.

>>> INSTALLING
You need to put hawkenInstaller.exe to folder without non-english character in path (like /home/user/): there's some encoding problems. I recommend you to create new 32 bit wineprefix. For this type in terminal:
$ WINEPREFIX=~/hawken WINEARCH=win32 wine hawkenInstaller.exe

After installing game client, do not start it. Install this components (using winetricks) first:
d3dx10
d3dx11_42
d3dx11_43
d3dx9
d3dx9_26
d3dx9_28
d3dx9_31
d3dx9_35
d3dx9_36
d3dx9_39
d3dx9_42
d3dx9_43
directx9
gecko120
vcrun2005
vcrun2008
winhttp
wininet
xact
xact_jun2010
xinput
ie6

Also set this settings to:
ddr=opengl
multisampling=enabled
mwo=force

To open winetricks for this prefix use `WINEPREFIX=~/hawken winetricks` command.

If game still not work, try to install any Unreal Engine 3-based game through Steam (CrimeCraft: GangWars, for example) and run it once. Steam will install all components that game need.
