What works

From several try outs, the most important thing to run basecamp with wine is the instalation of .net 3.5. from my experience, it has to be done from a clean wine & winetricks.

I did this after successfully install mapsource 6163. so, the maps are directly installed within basecamp.

- open 2d (without DEM) and 3d (with DEM) maps.

- Zoom-in-out

-  use 2d & 3d view

- creating routes

- import files

- check routes properties

What does not

- view in google earth function, saying that google earth is not presence although it is already installed.

- don't ever choose the 'graph' tab when looking at routes properties, basecamp will directly crash. shows an error related to gdiplus renderer and memory corrupt.

- cannot recognize my garmin gps, although mapsource 6163 can connect.

Workarounds

What was not tested

Additional Comments

I am using basecamp just for the 3d view, use mapsource for other purposes. so, i am happy that it works. Hopefully it can run better in the future.
