What works

With a clean wine install, and an existing msmoney.mny file already existing on disk:

A ULEA window appeared on which it was possible to click to accept.
Splash screen appeared and disappeared.
Main program window opened.

However, the main "central" tab (window) of the program where transactions in accounts etc would be displayed was blank.

File -> Open
was able to select an existing money file, but nothing appeared in the main program window.
The menus remained functional (ie no program crashes)
Was able to close the program successfully using:
File -> Close

Started program successfuly a second time and tried
File -> New -> New File...
Whilst this did not crash the program from within the program there was no sign of a new file being created.
Program then crashed when trying to access a menu item.

The program could then not be restarted because it reported it was already running.
Had to kill off the "explorer.exe" and "conhost.exe" processes to be able to restart the program.

What does not

With a clean wine install, the main "central" tab (window) of the program where transactions in accounts etc would be displayed was blank.

Creating a new msmoney.mny file did not appear to be successful, at least from within the program.

The program can sometimes crash when trying to access certain menu items.

If the program crashes it cannot be restarted unless the "explorer.exe" and "conhost.exe" processes and killed off.

Workarounds

Installing IE7 helps, but does not fix enough issues for the program to be considered "safe" to use.

Note that trying to install IE7 using winetricks with wine 7.1 and winetricks 20210206-next failed.

The solution on the page enabled IE7 to be installed worked, which is in the winetricks script to:

Replace line:
    for dll in itircl itss jscript mshtml msimtf shdoclc shdocvw shlwapi urlmon; do
with (removed shlwapi):
    for dll in itircl itss jscript mshtml msimtf shdoclc shdocvw urlmon; do

The program installed OK.Some "fixme" and "err" lines during the installation. Installed "Wine Mono" on prompt.

msmoney started and now the main "central" tab (program) window had items in it. Generally all worked well.

Generally all worked well.

A minor issue was:
When in an account register the Payee filed was expanded to show "Category:" and "Memo:", the "Payee" and "Category:" text boxes did not fully display any entered text. You could just see the top half of the text. Text in the "Memo" text box was fine.
When an entry was collapsed back to just showing the "Payee" text field, the "Payee" text was displayed correctly.

A major issue was:
The Program froze (locked up) when trying to balance an account.
The "Balance " pop-up window opened but then the program froze.

What was not tested

Not a lot could be tested with a clean wine install.

More was tested after IE7 was installed, but not a comprehensive test.
