What works

With a Default wine32 Installation

1) Program installs as expected
2) The program starts. It has some functionality, but not enough it make it usable.

What does not

With a Default wine32 Installation

The main issue is the previously reported issue of the of the program crashing when the "File" menu is selected.
Also note that the opening splash screen window could not be closed.

Workarounds

Using Winetricks Modification - ie7
Internet Explorer 7 installed using:
sh winetricks ie7
The program had almost 100% functionality. However, the one aspect that did not work, "account" balancing", means that the program will not be usable for most people.

What was tried and worked with the ie7 workaround:
  Creation of accounts
  Creation of transactions
  Editing of transactions
  Setup of recurring payment
  Transferring money between accounts

A minor issue was:
When in an account register and the Payee field was expanded to show "Category:" and "Memo:", the "Payee" and "Category:" text boxes did not fully display any entered text. You could just see the top half of the text. Text in the "Memo" text box was fine.
When an entry was collapsed back to just showing the "Payee" text field, the "Payee" text was displayed correctly.

The critical issue was the program froze on trying to balance an account.
The terminal output suggested that the issue appeared to be a thread being blocked in ntdll.

What was not tested

With a Default wine32 Installation

Very little could be tested because of the crash issue

Using Winetricks Workaround/Modification - ie7
Internet Explorer 7 installed using:
sh winetricks ie7

In a shortish evaluation I believe most menu items were tried. They all either worked (with the exception of the "account balancing") or at least did not cause the program to crash. An example of the latter were some external web access links, which I believe do not work becuase of the required functionality having being "removed" at the server end by Microsoft.

Additional Comments

All experiments started with:

1) Removal of .wine directory
2) Creation of a clean win32 wine environment using: WINEARCH=win32 wine notepad
This testing was using the Miscrosoft Money 2005 (v14) UK edition.

Experiments were also tried using winetricks modifications - ie7, msxml3, msxml4
Clean wine installation with:
  First: ie7, msxml3
  Secondly: ie7, msxml3, msxml4
were both separately tried. In both cases the program still locked up when trying to balance an account.
