The following works as expected.
-Installation from downloaded installer (works mostly, see notes)
-Launcher start up and login
-Gameplay using newly and already created characters
-PVP / Legends / Alerts / Duos / Challenges / Operations
-In game marketplace (DBC Coins)
-Gamepad WORKS (PS4 dualshock 4 via Bluetooth/USB, see notes)
What does not
-The configuration applet from the launcher still does not work, it relies on .NET 3.5 but still fails with it intalled.
What was not tested
The following was not tested.
-Other gamepads besides the Dualshock 4
-Switching back and forth to the desktop via alt-tab
DC Universe Online works out of the box, more or less. I needed to install the libraries d3dx9_36, vcrun2008 and xact_jun2010 via winetricks. As mentioned above the current installer (DCUO_Setup.exe) installs but crashes at the end due to it calling the .net 3.5 installer which hangs wine. Once it reaches the .net install phase it's ok to ctrl-c wine from the terminal to kill the installer. The DCUO launchpad is still installed and the .desktop icon is created. Per the previous version you will need to do the following fix for mouse wackiness. I needed to do this for the gamepad also as it was reading from the mouse and causing issues. You can try it either way, use what works best for you. IF YOU ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE MOUSE ABLE TO GO OUT OF THE WINDOW, FOLLOW THESE STEPS: 1 ) Run winecfg 2 ) Run DCGAME.EXE in a virtual window 3 ) Check "allow capture of mouse on full-screen windows" 4 ) Apply and close, and then run regedit 5 ) Go into /HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Wine/DirectInput Or just go find your DirectInput key 6 ) Click on DirectInput and add a string value 7 ) Make the name MousewarpOverride 8 ) Set the value to enable One thing I've noticed about this version I didn't in my previous tests is the game's performance. It is about half the framerate of what it was on the older versions of the game/wine. I've narrowed this down to using the Dual Shock 4 controller. While using the mouse/keyboard combo DCUO runs at a much smoother framerate. But while using the Dual Shock 4 the framerates are drasticly lower. I've tried every combination of kernel / userspace driver I can find and searching Google has returned nothing of use.
