What works

  • Software rendering
  • All detail settings
  • Sound, pre-rendered cutscenes, menus, etc.
  • High resolutions (via -height -width launch options and/or registry settings)
  • Windowed mode (via virtual desktop)

What does not

  • Incremental rendering causes a horrible ghosting effect on hardware rendered 3D scenes
  • With incremental rendering disabled, hardware rendered video generally appears fine, but this renders some objects in the world non-interactive.

Workarounds

Use software rendering, otherwise the game cannot be completed.

What was not tested

Graphics:

  • GPU: Nvidia
  • Driver: proprietary

Additional Comments

This is an ugly game, released during that awkward period when all games had to be in 3D even if the gameplay didn't lend itself particularly well to 3D. Running it with software rendering doesn't make much difference in appearance, and runs smoothly enough on my FX-8350
