Install runs, seems to install fully.
What does not
NONE of the buttons work. For example, if you click on a "Continue" button to proceed through filling out a return, all thta happens is it redraws the current screen, and never goes anywhere. And since you can't navigate through the entry screens, you can do absolutely ***NOTHING*** with the application.
With some fiddling (such as installing MSIE6) you can get it to start navigating, but then the text in the form is *SO* scrambled/corrupted, you have absolutely no chance of reading it.
Strange thing is: last year I was able to run TaxAct 2011 on Wine/CXO, and this year it fails in the same way TA 2012 does. So either something has severely regressed in Wine, or TA does not run on 64-bit Linux (which I didn't have last year).
What was not tested
anything involved in filling out a return, since you cannot navigate through the applicatoin.
While the programme installs and starts up correctly, the fact that you cannot navigate through it, and cannot complete a return in it, means it cannot fulfill it's function *at all*. Therefore, if it's can't be used for it's purpose, it's garbage. When communicating with 2nd Story Software about it, they effectively said "yes, we know it doesn't work, and we don't care".
