What works
everything to do with reading tabs, i use PTE for reading tabs not creating them.
What does not
stopping playing a tab. It plays fine but doesnt stop. the stop button is ineffective, it doesnt return you to the interface.

In order to get tab playback to work with midi i had to install timidity and freepats. On Ubuntu these are in the standard repositories, maybe universe or multiverse. Those packages are probably in the debian repositories too.
