What works

After downloading, I ran the installer for 2.2. It offered to uninstall the older version and install 2.2. I accepted this. It didn't die during this, but succeeded the installation. It did not remove the plug-ins & had to upgrade those after installing Songbird.

Although, the terminal showed plethora of erring, Songbird seemed to be functioning perfectly.

I let it update all of the files before using it because I'm aware that it is easy to crash previous versions and Nightingale.

I was able to play a song and change the position of the track forwards, then backwards repeatedly without crashing.

When a song would end, the next song would play without a break.

I was able to scan my collection for artwork and it did download and display covers for the albums.

I was able to change the feather without a crash & the music continued to play while the window wasn't being displayed!

This functionality makes it pretty usable for common usage. My collection is 3175 songs. I have many different artists, albums, and types of files.

What does not

Tools->Options... is very slow when changing the settings and switching from tab to tab.

There were a few instantaneous glitches in the playing of music; I'd experienced several less than a second losses of sound. It didn't happen terribly often. It did happen every song. I'm guessing that it has to do with memory and large usage through Wine. I, also, had other native applications running.

Workarounds

What was not tested

I did not test any plug-ins (add-ons). Though, I did configure some of them (e.g. CD-rip eject disc and play song once finished).

I did not try to change the song or position of the song or anything other than letting the songs play in order while performing any other task with Songbird.

I did not try to upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2.

I have no idea what Tools->Repair my Phillips Device is! I also didn't log into last.fm.

Additional Comments

It would be nice for any future tester to attempt the upgrading process for Songbird from 2.1 to 2.2 (or from an older release). I may test that in the future, but I did not test it for this test. Though, there were little lapses in slowness, I am lenient toward the possibility that a system with a good amount of memory (not mine) that isn't also running a few native programs won't have the slowness and short stints of soundless-ness while playing the songs.
