Additional Comments

Will adjust rating after playing this weekend. Changed to Silver not because I could not get in but because of the disconnects. Although, from the forums, it seems everyone had disconnects. I installed both in a 32bit PREFIX as I could not get the 64bit PREFIX to patch.

HowTo / Notes

I had to use a 32bit PREFIX for the game to patch.

I installed using winetricks corefonts, winhttp, wininet, msls31, d3dx9, gdiplus, ie8.

I threw in vcrun2005, vcrun2008, vcrun2010 or another PREFIX to see if they helped with the disconnects. The disconnects seemed system wide and not related to using LINUX.

server error - no servers available
by Daniel on Monday March 25th 2013, 8:00
I could start the game but when logging in to the server I got error login in or no servers available.

Anyone gone further then this? I had a beta invite so I know that servers were up as I played from Windows.

I was able to play for 10 to 15 minutes intervals then received a disconnected message. I believe the beta is over now. I made it to the wreckage, stage two I think, but the disconnects made it hard to play. The graphics were beautiful though.

I found this post about the disconnects:

The dev team was active in trying to resolve this issue. Hopefully they corrected in for release day.

Interesting indeed. :)
page fault
by gotsanity on Friday March 22nd 2013, 20:45

Running on 32bit as suggested helped me start to patch and then it started crashing again. Patch never completed.

As a side note the patcher screen is also not displaying any graphics/text and the close/minimize buttons are behind the core graphic.

I noticed the patcher screen as well. I click the Wine program in the Launcher bar and pull the text to the front. I will report back with testing results.

I have not had the game crash, per say.

I did have a crash at launcher but winetricks gdiplus corrected that. After patching, I can launch, select display name, and select create character.

After that, I did have the game sit at the terra something ship screen and consume lots of CPU cycles before I killed it; waited five or so minutes. The process was username. Attempting again. I could not see another window behind it, like the launcher has the text and graphic separation. I tried my click the Unity Launcher icon and Alt-Tab trick to look for a hidden window.

More testing and results coming... not sure where to place the rating at this point... definitely not gold unless I did not wait long enough. Will assess more on Saturday when I have had more time to test.

I made it past the 'freezing' point by changing to Windowed mode in Options. I will now try to go through character creation and see what happens.
