What works
Everything. Riptide also imported my character from the previous Dead Island game automatically. Completed the game with the Sam B. character, although I skipped some of the later side quests due to lack of patience.
What does not
After quitting the game, the process C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\diriptide\DeadIslandGame_x86_rwdi.exe hangs around and must be manually killed before Steam detects that the application has quit. Manually killing this after exiting did not cause any further issues - games saved fine, Steam started cloud-sync immediately upon killing it, etc.
When changing resolution and some other graphics settings, the game indicates that it needs to restart for the changes to take effect. Unfortunately it never restarts, likely due to the aforementioned issue. The game will appear to quit back to Steam when accepting the option to relaunch. Simply killing DeadIslandGame_x86_rwdi.exe and loading the game again does use the new graphics settings however, so it's only a minor annoyance.
Workarounds
What was not tested
I did not test co-op or posting stats to Facebook (I wasn't interested in co-op, and I don't have Facebook) but there was nothing to suggest that these might not work.

Additional Comments
No game-specific DLL overrides required. I did have some in my Steam WINEPREFIX already (presumably added via winetricks at some point) - namely *windowscodecs set to native, and dwrite set to disabled. I also have a bunch of .NET Framework and Visual C++ Redistributables installed (according to the "wine uninstaller" command), however these would have been from other games that installed them automatically and not via winetricks. As such, they are not expected to be a concern. Test rig: CPU - Intel i7-950, 3.06 GHz GFX - Nvidia GeForce GTX 680 - nvidia 313.26 RAM - 24GB
