What does not

  • Before installing the game through Steam, the .NET installer inside of the game directory has to be removed. It will hang and possibly trash the wineprefix.
  • winetricks mwo=enabled is needed to look around 360°
  • winetricks d3dx9 dxdiagn is needed to prevent the game from crashing at startup.
  • d3d11.dll has to be disabled in winecfg to prevent a crash (DX11 doesn't work yet in wine)
  • UPlay's online save feature will not work.

Additional Comments

The game does not need a native .NET anymore and the music works fine now! :-) You only need: winetricks d3dx9 dxdiagn mwo=enabled and to disable d3d11.dll. Specs: AMD Phenom X4 3 GHz, Radeon HD 6800, Mesa 10.5.3

HowTo / Notes

Steps to get it working
The game has been tested by me to work very good with Wine 1.7.43 - versions below of that have produced various problems. Make sure to use the latest wine.
  • Before installing the game through Steam, the .NET installer inside of the game directory has to be removed. It will hang and possibly trash the wineprefix.
  • Afterwards, run winetricks mwo=enabled d3dx9 dxdiagn
  • Open up winecfg and set d3d11.dll to Disabled

The game will run now. UPlay's online save feature will not work, though.
