Additional Comments

The game was tested using a 32-bit Wine prefix. No winetricks installations were needed. That being said, once you've installed Steam, and the game, before you launch the game, make sure you delete both .NET and DirectX installers from the game's support directory (found under /Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon/Support; just delete the directories). They are not needed, and can take a long time to install (and from what others have said, can damage the Steam installation). Previously, it was recommended to install "dxdiagn" with winetricks. DO NOT DO THIS. At this point, it will cause UPlay to crash with "Unhandled exception: unimplemented function setupapi.dll.CM_Get_Child called in 32-bit code" when you attempt to start the game. If you ran the winetricks, simply remove any reference to "dxdiagn" in the libraries tab in winecfg. If the sound to the game stutters following the Ubisoft screen, you'll need to change the audio settings in winecfg from "default" to "Pulseaudio." The sound will still occasionally stutter, but it will no longer stick. The mouse will not be grabbed by the game; you'll need to set "Automatically capture the mouse in full-screen windows" under the "Graphics" tab in winecfg in order to make the game playable with a mouse.

HowTo / Notes

Steps to get it working
The game has been tested by me to work very good with Wine 1.7.43 - versions below of that have produced various problems. Make sure to use the latest wine.
  • Before installing the game through Steam, the .NET installer inside of the game directory has to be removed. It will hang and possibly trash the wineprefix.
  • Afterwards, run winetricks mwo=enabled d3dx9 dxdiagn
  • Open up winecfg and set d3d11.dll to Disabled

The game will run now. UPlay's online save feature will not work, though.
