I tried UPlay first and had intermitant success logging in. In general, just get a no-uplay hack. They are hard to find but worth the trouble.
It was a constant battle with Far Cry 3 that lead me to ultimately throw in the towel. Getting all of the overrides figured out was time consuming, trying to figure out which DirectX_9 override to use was headache inducing, and then sifting through the error messages got me to give up. The final error message I received was "err:d3d:resource_init Out of adapter memory" which suggests there was something wrong with my Wine configuration. I manually adjusted the memory allocation but to no avail. I'm sure with enough time and tinkering you could get Far Cry 3 to work but, I'm not sure it's worth it.
