What works
Everything except Multiplayer. 3rd-party mods will install fine. 'Experimental 1024x768'and 32-bit video modes will also work. You can play Multiplayer by yourself (with some issues: see below) as long as you have the appropriate directplay stuff setup however I've had no success with playing over LAN.
What does not
Multiplayer. You can get very close though: The farthest I've managed is to get a brief connection with the other computer over tcp/ip. The connecting game will subsequently freeze however. You can still play by yourself on multiplayer but as soon as you exit (by clicking quit or logout) the game will freeze.
Workarounds
What was not tested
The 3D acceleration option was about the only thing not checked. It shouldn't be needed though.

Additional Comments
A little effort on the devs part to get Multiplayer working would be awesome. BG2 would then run perfectly in every way. The freezes on logging out of single-player multiplayer sessions seems to be connected to the freezes that occur on the joining computer when it connects to the host.

Multiplayer can work, but requires some setup first.
The problem is with the current DirectPlay implementation. Read here how to set it up: http://wiki.winehq.org/DirectPlayGames
To get multiplayer working for games that use a DirectPlay version prior to 8, place the following DLLs:
dplayx.dll, dpnet.dll, dpnhpast.dll and dpwsockx.dll in this archive in WINE's windows/system32 directory, then add DLL overrides (native, builtin) with WINECFG.
