What works

Program installs without problem, no problem with registration and activation. Detects if there is a new version. Completed a reasonably complicated joint return successfully and without some of the visual glitches I saw in previous years. Successfully saved a PDF of the returns and generated the files for Netfile. CRA accepted Netfile without issues.

What does not

• In-program update doesn't work, but updating to the latest version is required in order to Netfile. I had to update the program manually (see below). This bug existed in previous versions.
•  This version added support for submitting the Netfile within the program, but it failed with a connection error message. I had to use the old submission process (save the .TAX file, connect to the CRA website manually and submit), which worked as in old versions.
•  The tips don't work properly, coming up as blank windows.
•  After creating a PDF of the tax return, an error message about Acrobat not being installed came up.

To update the software after installation, download the latest version from the link under "How can I install the latest update if I experience problems with the automated download procedure from the program?" at the following location: http://www.drtax.ca/en/UFile/help-support/faq/ufile-windows.aspx Install over top of the existing UFile 2012 installation and it will be updated to the latest version (without requiring reactivation, etc.)
