Neoaxis Engine

What works

• Almost everything in OpenGL mode
• Opening the .sln project in the Linux version of MonoDevelop

What does not

• .NET 4.x still doesn't fully work in Wine, only .NET 2.0 SP2 will work with NeoAxis
• Tooltips in the editor don't appear and drop-down lists don't work correctly, the window is immediately "refreshed" and the tooltip or the list disappears (it's still possible to select an item by double-clicking on the field or using the arrow keys), quite annoying.

Workarounds

What was not tested

• Direct3D 9 mode, DirectSound (OpenAL works flawlessly)
• Installing on a 64 bits Wine prefix (there is a hack to install .NET 2.0 on a 64 bits prefix but I've never tested it)

Additional Comments

You need to install .NET 2.0 SP2, but do not install .NET 4 or NeoAxis will not launch. It's probably a good practice to keep NeoAxis in a separate 32 bits prefix: export WINEARCH=win32 export WINEPREFIX=~/.wine.neoaxis winetricks -q dotnet20sp2 wine NeoAxisEngineSDK.exe
