The latest beta version, 3.54 beta 4, has alot better library system to 3.53, and has an improved chat client meaning alot less disconnects.

What works
Allows me to run the installer and set a username. Seems to finish and asks if I wish to run WinMX now, tick the box and nothing happens. (see below)
What does not
after installer finishes (that *appears* to work) it flashes the WinMX splash screen and then disappears. Not listed when I ps -aux.

For Wine 0.9.60 and up
The only dll override needed now is for the connection patch, i.e.
oledlg.dll.
