Steam client, setup
What does not
Everything else, caused by awc.dll of EA's DRM tool "Origin".Â
Installed windows version of Steam with "winetricks steam", then installed Alice through the steam client. Starting the game brings up error "AWC.dll load failed" (EA copyright protection stuff).
Since the DRM'ed DLLs cannot be mapped in OS X, there is no way to start the game without tampering with EA's DRM system. This is a known problem with Wine under Mac OS X (see mailing list).
Some users found a solution with a crack before, but the game files have been updated since, and therefore the "old cracked" AWC.dll does not pass the checksum test anymore.Â
What was not tested
Affects only Wine on Mac OS X, as there is a known "bug" with the dll Mapping
