What works

  • Total Annihilation 3.1
    • Single player (first two Arm missions tested).
  • Total Annihilation Map and Mission Editor Version 1.0
    • Creating a map.
    • Saving a map.

What does not

  • Total Annihilation 3.1
    • During installation, there is an error: “Unable to execute file: sdbinst.exe”—this doesn’t seem to affect gameplay; it is thought that this program would install a work‐around to enable Alt+Tab task‐switching and may not be relevant to Wine systems.

Additional Comments

The Unity interface appears on top of the game menu. One method of resolving this: In winecfg, disable “Allow the window manager to control the windows”, though this visually affects the user’s ability to Alt + Tab. Setup file version is 2.0.0.21.

I couldn't get the multiplayer built into Total Annihilation to work, but using GameRanger (also running in Wine) does work.
