What works

  • Single-player
    • skirmishes
    • campaign
    • loading/saving

Even though the main menu's resolution is always 640x480, the in-game resolution can be anything your monitor supports.

What does not

  • Multiplayer: When I chose to use a TCP/IP connection and told it to scan, it would quickly leave the menu without finishing the scan. I'm not sure if this is the same behavior as the native version or not.
  • Most of the links in the multiplayer menu are 404's.
  • The screen flickers and acts weird if your screen is larger than the entire map. (This is only a problem for beginning campaign maps.)

Workarounds

What was not tested

  • IPX, modem, and serial connection multiplayer

Additional Comments

When you go into a battle, the window shrinks to a fraction of the screen size even though it's supposed to be fullscreen. Most of the UI is hidden. If that happens, just alt-tab away and then back and it works fine.

I couldn't get the multiplayer built into Total Annihilation to work, but using GameRanger (also running in Wine) does work.
