Additional Comments

Installed the game in a fresh new wineprefix : WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=-pathtonewprefix- winecfg To get voices working had to use winetricks: WINEPREFIX=-pathtonewprefix- ./winetricks amstream WINEPREFIX=-pathtonewprefix- ./winetricks quartz WINEPREFIX=-pathtonewprefix- wine regsvr32 "c:\windows\system32\amstream.dll" To get ingame video working I had to install Active Move for Internet explorer : WINEPREFIX=-pathtonewprefix- wine Amov4ie.exe The only bug remaining : Dynamic Light not working, resulting in a dark and dull video game. Must be related to : fixme:d3d:state_flushbatch Render state WINED3D_RS_FLUSHBATCH not implemented yet. fixme:d3d:state_subpixel Render state WINED3D_RS_SUBPIXEL not implemented yet. Here's a short video for reference :

HowTo / Notes

Making music, voice and pilots video to work

You will need two native components:

  • amstream.dll
  • quartz.dll

Easy way with winetricks:

  1. Install winetricks using your distro's package manager.

  2. In terminal, run:

    $ winetricks amstream quartz

Hard way without winetricks:

  1. Find amstream.dll and quartz.dll in prefered search engine.

  2. Place them in $WINEPREFIX/drive_c/windows/system32/

  3. In terminal, run:

    $ wine regsvr32 "c:\windows\system32\amstream.dll"
    $ wine regsvr32 "c:\windows\system32\quartz.dll"

Tested on Arch Linux with Wine v.4.4.

You won't need anything else like Active Movie for IE.
