2014-12-26 Admin note: the following was extracted from a user comment made in December, 2013 and may not be relevant to current Wine.

You'll need to install wmp9, devenum and vcrun6 from winetricks, if you override quartz dll in winecfg, DISABLE the override, otherwise the game will crash.

• On fglrx the game is CPU-bound, make sure your cpufreq governor is set to 'performance'.
  
• If the game crashes on Intel GPU, try setting video memory size (HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Wine/Direct3D/VideoMemorySize=2048)
